It is a rainy, dreary Saturday here today. Yesterday, the temps hovered around 46 degrees. It felt more like March outside! The sun was out and it was difficult to believe we had just celebrated Christmas!
Friday was also the first day in – I don’t know how long – where I did not feel like I was going to fall over from being overly tired. This pneumonia has been kicking my butt up until then. I finally feel like I am “rounding the corner” and getting better. *Fingers are crossed this continues!
Christmas was peaceful and nice. Aside from being tired, I did enjoy it. I think the best part was watching our seven-year-old daughter’s excitement over everything.
My husband got me “The Kit” – an awesome present from Field Notes Brand. I’m in love with their products now. As someone who collects notebooks and can never have enough pens or pencils, this sort of present gives me great joy!
One of the things my mom bought me was a bottle of “Joy” dishwashing liquid. I know it sounds funny but I cannot find it here where I live. I’m sure one of the stores carries it but I have not seen it. I usually use Mrs. Meyers cleaning products but the smell of “Joy” reminds me of my grandma. She used to use “Ivory” or “Joy.” Mom knows this so she got me a bottle as a present. I love it. 🙂
There were so many other wonderful things – too many to list. The funny thing is the older you get, the more you discover you don’t need as much. It is more about the simple things – the little things that matter above all. Time spent with family is the best.
Right now, I’m reading a book I can’t put down. It’s for Patti Digh’s 37 Days Book Club. It is so good. I’m dreading to see how it ends because I simply don’t want the book to end. It’s my first read by this author – Jojo Moyes. I love her style and will have to check out here other books. I’m looking forward to a year-long book club and reading books I might not have ever reached for on my own.
This weekend will be a weekend of rest for me. I figure the more I rest now, the more I can do next week while my daughter is on break from school. I’ve been so sick the last month and a half that I have not been much fun in terms of doing things we had planned. So this week upcoming, I hope to start making up for that. 🙂
It feels good to be blogging again. I’m thankful for Reverb 2014 and for Kat McNally. I’m looking forward to Cultivate 2015 by Meredith Shadwill – which starts up January 11 and runs through January 31st! More details on that soon. I do hope you will join us!
I have to share something we just received in the mail. Our dear friend Elaine Stratton made these AMAZING, beautiful fingerless mittens for my daughter and me. They fit perfectly and we will treasure them! Elaine is super talented and the sweetest person. Thank you, Elaine (and Mark). Hugs!
