Here I am!
I resurrected my inkytwig.com site. I kept the domain name even though I switched blogs. I always planned to come back to this. It just took a little longer than I expected. I know this will confuse a lot of people. Going through wordpress.org allows me a lot more flexibility and freedom design-wise. Right now, I really like this theme I found on there. My goal is to start designing themes at some point. We’ll see.
Right now, my to do list is quite long. And now that Spring has finally decided to make an appearance, the pull to go outside and revel in the sun is very strong. I hope she is staying for a while and doesn’t pull another disappearing act.
There has been a lot going on lately. We moved our office BACK into the back bedroom where we had it a couple years ago. It is just too cold downstairs. Plus, up here we have a nice view of our front yard. The three of us have our desks facing each other so that when we are all at our computers, we are able to look up and see one another. It’s very nice and cozy. PLUS, I seem to be getting a lot more of my tasks accomplished which is a very good thing!
Last week, I met up with my friend Diana to train with kettlebells. We met online through Tracy Reifkind and learned that we have a lot in common. Her family is from the same area I grew up. She had been wanting to get up to Marinette for a visit as she does so a couple times a year. She threw her kettlebells and training rope (OMG, I LOVE the ropes) in her car and drove up north to meet with AnneShirley and me.
It was a fun morning. I didn’t get much sleep the night before because I was so excited. Diana gave me some tips to correct my form. This was the first time I have been able to train with someone in person. Everything I learned about the kettlebells has been from watching videos online of Tracy Reifkind, Pavel Tsatsouline and David Whitley. So I was really thrilled to finally have someone check my form and give me some advice. We worked with the kettlebells and rope in the parking lot at Stephenson Island in Marinette. It was a nice day – chilly – but sunny and nice. AnneShirley joined in swinging her five pound bell. 🙂
It was great to finally meet Diana. She is a remarkable person and I am grateful she took the time to get together. Afterwards, we met with my mom for lunch at Schloegel’s over across the river in Menominee, Michigan. I must add that I was freaking sore (in a good way) after that day!
We had not seen him since I was pregnant with AnneShirley (she is five). It was sort of surreal to have Bill in our house. It was a wonderful visit. How many college professors actually take the time to visit former students?
I am very blessed.
What an awesome week it was. I was exhausted by the weekend but it was so worth it.
