The Road North

I’ve traveled this road more times than I can count.
I know each bump, every crack in the pavement,
and the exact amount of time it takes to drive…

The road North leads to my birthplace,
my mom,
my uncles, my cousins and friends-
the ones who’ve known me
always, since the beginning of me.

This road leads
to my place of solace
my refuge – the farm.

It is where I grew up,
where we’ll retire
and where we’ll grow old.
as everything comes full circle.

The road North leads me to so many things,
most of all,
it leads me home.

  1. I am adding this to my notebook. I love it. It clearly reminds me of driving, which is my third favorite pass time, so there’s that. But I know this feeling, too, and I think it’s wonderful.
