Fresh Figs #augustbreak

I was over the moon a few weeks ago when at Trader Joe’s down in Chicago, I saw a container of FRESH FIGS. It was my first time seeing a fresh fig up close and personal. So of course, I had to buy a container (I should have bought two).

This is something I have been wanting to try for a long time now. I blame it on Patti Digh because she keeps raving about the fresh figs in her yard every summer. I LOVE dried figs and fig newtons but had never been near a fresh fig until that moment.

They tasted different than I imagined they would – that is, they tasted even better than I imagined. I have officially fallen more deeply in love with figs.

I’m participating in Susannah Conway’s August Break project. Throughout the month of August, we will be sharing a photo a day.

  1. Our local fruit has not done well this year due to the drought, so I haven’t had much this summer. This is making me very sad about that.
