Goodbye Snow, Hello Spring!

It’s leaving.

It’s almost gone.

It’s finally beginning to look and feel a lot like Spring!

Can I hear a Hallelujah?

Last Vestiges of Snow

There are still a few piles of snow hanging around the low-lying areas and Lake Michigan is not clear of the ice just yet but it’s slowly disappearing.

Ice on Lake Michigan

The weather is warming up and little spring flowers are dotting the landscape with morsels of beautiful color.

Spring Flowers at Last!

Last night we returned home from our weekend up north to severe tornado warnings and storm sirens – so bad that we had to hunker down in our basement until the threat passed. Fortunately we escaped unscathed – save for our mailbox – our poor mailbox that just can’t seem to catch a break.

Unfortunately there was extensive damage to houses and trees just a few miles away from us. It’s the first time since we moved here to this house back in 2005 that we had to actually head for the basement because of a tornado warning.

Today is windy and the sky is full of clouds dark grey stormy in color but it is calm and the sun is poking out between the clouds letting us know that it is watching.

Looking Up

Spring is here.

Finally. 🙂

  1. Hooray! So glad that you’re finally getting a break in all of that winter weather. The pictures are wonderful. It’s definitely inspiring me to try my hand and to be more aware of my surroundings with my camera (phone) in hand. I don’t know that I would like the threat of tornados any more than blizzards or torrential rain…I guess that’s why I picked Arizona as home base.

Glad to hear that you’ve broken through your plateau with the kettleballs, too. Congratulations!

Here’s to a healthy spring, all the way around, my friend!

    • Brandee – I said the same thing to Melissa about taking more pics of things around me that I take for granted -(not that you are taking things for granted). Cheers back at you!

  2. Yes it is!! The rain last night melted most of our last vestiges, too, so I’m sharing in the joy. Springspringspringspringspring. And there is nothing like little blue flowers, am I right? Nothing.

So glad that you and yours escaped unscathed last night. I always say that storms up here are boring–after living in the south where a storm means business, here they just seem kind of wimpy. So the one we got last night was a thrill. I just wish it could have been thrilling at eight at night instead of 330 am.

And as usual I love the layout. It even looks good in Linux and almost nothing looks good in Linux. Good work!

    • Little blue flowers are always the first flowers I see each year around the farm so they hold a special place in my heart. Thanks for the compliments on the blog. I know I switch it up a lot but I see it as my insatiable zest for the visual. LOL! Yes, glad storms weren’t worse. I do love a good thunderstorm though!
Hope you have an awesome week!

  3. Yaaaaaaaay. Can you hear me squealing across the world? I love the transitionality of this post – you really captured the seasons changing. Let’s hope for warm days, sunshine, long afternoons, blossoms, and lemonade (my quintessential summer drink).

And, like everyone else, I love the layout!

  4. Hi Roxanne! Thanks and yes yes yes! I can hear you! Amen to warm days, sunshine, long afternoons, blossoms, and lemonade – freshly squeezed!

  5. Love it! 🙂
Unfortunately here it’s still bloody cold…
I don’t know what the hell is wrong with wordpress, I subscribed to your blog and I’m still not getting it when you upload something else.

  6. Love the new heading and these photos! They so perfectly tell the story of springs … they are the sights my tired winter eyes have been waiting for!!!

  7. It’s about time you guys caught a weather break out there! How absolutely terrifying for you having to wait the warnings out in the basement but I am thrilled that you weren’t hurt and that – save for your poor mailbox – there was no damage to your property.

The sun is taking a break after working hard for us Londoners over the past fortnight. Can’t wait for its return 😀

  8. Hey Sibel, hope you are getting the updates now.Noel, I hear we are getting possible snow this weekend. UGH! Oh Stereo, I love it when you write British (using words like fortnight) Thanks for the comments everyone! It’s been a lovely week weatherwise although it is getting chilly again.
