Another Pound Bites the Dust…

So for my weekly update on life since I started practicing with the kettlebell two weeks ago – I am down another pound (5 pounds total) and another 4.5 inches which means I’ve lost 9 inches total in two weeks. My clothes are fitting better once again and I am feeling great with increased energy.

I also decided to check out “The Warrior Diet” by Ori Hofmekler and have been slowly integrating the idea of “undereating” during the day and eating a larger meal in the evening.  I’m not starving myself, I’m not exactly fasting and I’m not pigging out at night. The idea is that you eat fresh fruits, vegetables and light protein throughout the day rather than eating a specified meal. No bread or grains during the day either.  The big meal is at night and is pretty much whatever you want as long as it is healthy and not processed.

For example, an evening meal would start with a salad then move on to your protein (fish, chicken, steak, etc…) along with steamed (cooked) vegetables and then if you have a starch, you would eat that last. You can eat as much as you want – until you are full. That sounds crazy but the truth is, I think you will more than likely not pig out because your body adapts to the smaller meals (undereating) and fills up rather quickly.

This is JUST what I am taking from it so far.  I am finding I DO have more energy and feel better overall with this type of eating program.  We’ll see how it goes. As I said, I’m just starting with this.  Proof will be in the way I feel and if I continue to lose weight and am able to perform my workouts without loss of energy or strength as time goes on.  I’ll keep you posted.  So far though, I am really liking it and finding that I am NOT starving or needing to nibble during the day.

Overall, I am thrilled with my inches and pounds lost. I really love practicing with the kettlebell. Jess, my husband, bought me a 30 pound cast iron kettlebell this last week. I’m slowly integrating that into my workouts. I still really want to purchase one from Dragon Door and will saving up for one of those!

  1. ““undereating” during the day and eating a larger meal in the evening…” This is a thing??? This diet sounds like it was made for me! I love eating a solid dinner at the end of the day, but have always heard you’re supposed to have your big meal at noon and then a light dinner so the calories don’t store as fat when you sleep. Or something like that. I am definitely going to check this out.

  2. Me too, Noel. But the key is that you aren’t eating crap at night but rather good, clean, wholesome food. I have had more energy since I started the adaptation process of the diet. I’ll keep you posted but I like the idea of not thinking about food all day and I don’t feel sluggish. I look forward to dinner now. I bought a bunch of blueberries, raspberries and strawberries to eat during the day and I have yogurt and lettuce… This is sort of how I ate when I worked overnights at the TV station and I was losing weight that way. So, we’ll see. So far so good. 🙂 Thanks, by the way! Hope you had a great weekend!

  3. I really, really would miss my breads. : ) But I’d like to lose 10 lbs and I am finding it very difficult – so I need to try something new – and I’m afraid that thing is limiting carbs! Boo hoo.
