Gulp. Oh boy. This is a toughie! We try so many different things that it is really difficult to pin down just one thing that tilted my world as I know it on its tail.

I have to say the one type of food that has captured my soul as well as my taste buds more than anything-has to be Indian food. Not that I haven’t had it before, but this year – for some reason – it really captivated my tongue and changed the way I view cooking. Instead of cooking around a particular food, I think Indian food has made me become more “spice-centric” – meaning I cook around the spice. And believe me, I LOVE my spices (Penzeys, how I adore thee, let me count the ways!)

Indian food is a brilliant firework display of color, texture, temperature, flavors,scents and intensity that is as close to culinary ecstasy as one can get. If I could choose one food that makes me go all “What About Bob” (remember the scene where Bob is eating corn?) – it is most definitely, Indian Food. It is without a doubt, a good mood food, for me.

A wonderful book to read on the subject of Indian food is, “Eating India: An Odyssey into the Food and Culture of the Land of Spices” by Chitrita Banerji
