A Rainy Day in November Update

It’s been beautiful weather-wise all week until today. Today it is raining.  It sort of fits my mood though. So far, in regards to NaNoWriMo, I have hit a wall this week and have accomplished nothing in terms of writing.  I am not terribly freaked out or worried about hitting my 50,000 words.  The first time I did NaNoWriMo I started a week late and ended with more than the 50k so I know I can still get back on track. It’s the story I am concerned about. It’s frighteningly dull to me but I do know that sometimes the most beautiful things lie hidden in the things we call a mess so I am hopeful that I will uncover my novel’s “beauty” at some point in time. It’s just a matter of writing and finding that voice, that story that I KNOW is there.

Otherwise, I’ve been just enjoying my time with my three-year-old.  I’ve also been reading.  I finished “The Hunger Games” trilogy by Suzanne Collins. If you get a chance, read them. They are a good quick read – very enjoyable and definitely a page-turner of a story.  Right now I am reading, “Catalyst” by Laurie Halse Anderson, “Decision Points” by George W. Bush (I collect books by and of the presidents), and still trying to get through “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” by Stieg Larsson. I just cannot get into that book for some reason. I’m working on it, believe me.  And for light read-while-on-the-treadmill-reading, I am reading “Fierce” by Kelly Osbourne which is entertaining and interesting.

We’ve been battling colds and sinus issues the last few weeks and celebrating our three-year-old’s birthday.  Other than that, not a whole lot has been going on – at least excitement-wise, which is a good thing.  Sorry for the rather dull update but I guess those are bound to “happen” from time to time!  Hopefully I’ll have a zip-dandy-fantastic blog post in the near future that will surely blow your hair back!  Until then, have a great weekend!
