Knocking on Summer’s Door

It’s the last day of May!  Where on earth did this month go?  Temperature wise, summer weather is full-throttle.  It’s been in the 80’s and 90’s here in Wisconsin.  Mind you, I am not a fan of hot weather.  I like my temperature in the 40-60 degree range!

So what have I been up to?  I’ve been planting shrubs in our backyard because – well – there’s not much out there just yet.  So I am slowly building a hedge of shrubs around the perimeter of the backyard.  I have the left side covered.  I planted two arborvitae and four dwarf burning bushes.  (pictures not my own)

Next to our deck on the other side of the yard, I planted an older (larger) burning bush.  Today, provided it does not rain, I have two lilies and several other plants to get in the ground in the front yard.

I am also working on a different book.  I put aside my political story for a while as I am a bit burned out on it.  I want to write something fun and different than anything else I have ever written.

With summer upon us, it is increasingly hard for me to concentrate on writing when I would rather be outside and doing other things.  I am in the middle of reading other people’s work right now too which I must finish before I do my own thing.  I need more hours in a day to get all the things done that I would like.

My postings have been few and far between lately, I know.  I just haven’t had much to say.  For me, I would rather have something I need to say rather than prattle on and on about nothing – which is sort of what this post is.

Anyway, that is what is going on in my life right now.  I hope everyone is having a terrific Memorial Day weekend!  🙂

  1. I’ve missed your postings! Glad you’re doing well and keeping busy, as always. It’s rained here for “40 days and 40 nights” – at least, it seems that way. But I’m with you; I’m not a fan of hot weather. I just wish it wouldn’t rain soooo much here. We’re not doing too much for the weekend. I took tomorrow off so just having a 4 day weekend is a treat. Take care!
